This working paper explores opportunities and challenges for decent green jobs in Bengaluru’s building sector, analysing primary data from focus group discussions and key informant interviews. The buildings sector contributes to half of the city’s greenhouse gas emissions and building decarbonization is a key strategy under the Bengaluru Climate and Resilience Action Plan (B-CAP) 2023. Building decarbonization is expected to create green jobs, i.e. jobs which contribute substantially to preserving or restoring environmental quality.
