Transport Transport The ease of urban mobility – the way people move from one place to another – determines the quality of life in a city. Safe, comfortable, and affordable modes of transport allow people to access education, employment, markets, and recreational activities. As our cities grow, the demand for transport will continue to grow. By investing in electric vehicles, enhancing safety measures, and planning for convenient access to public transport hubs, cities can plan and manage this growth while minimising the negative externalities associated with it. Sustainable Cities Sustainable Cities Increased urbanisation has brought it with issues related to air quality, road safety, and urban sprawl. In several peri-urban areas, self-provisioning of public services is the norm in the absence of municipal capacity to deliver. It doesn’t have to be like this. Cities and towns in India can ensure better planning and ensure quality public services while protecting natural resources and create regions that are safe for the present and future generations. Innovation Innovation Technology has changed the way we negotiate the world. It has changed the way we commute, eat, consume information, and even socialise. In Indian cities, a growing ecosystem of start-ups are developing solutions aimed at more efficiently managing various aspects of our everyday lives., including water, waste, energy, and mobility. At present, most of our cities are struggling to stretch limited budgets in order to provide for basic services. So, how can they leverage this growth in innovative technologies in order to arrive at a win-win solution for all stakeholders? Clean Energy Clean Energy WRI India works towards adoption of clean energy solutions through initiatives in renewable energy, efficiency and access. We have developed tools that show the un-met and under-met demand for electricity, thereby helping utilities provide clean, reliable, and affordable power to users. Our work contributes to India’s development goals including poverty reduction, achieving climate resilient cities and increased job opportunities. Sustainable Habitats Sustainable Habitats WRI India aims to restore forests and landscapes, secure land rights and make degraded lands more productive through tree-based interventions. We combine advancements in knowledge, robust analysis, and cutting-edge technologies to provide tools and strategies for planning, implementing, and monitoring successful landscape approaches that support India’s commitments to the Bonn Challenge, the Paris Climate Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals Climate Action Climate Action WRI India aims to restore forests and landscapes, secure land rights and make degraded lands more productive through tree-based interventions.
