Inadequate last-mile access has long hindered metro ridership, and while the Metro Rail Policy 2017 mandates last-mile connectivity improvement, many cities struggle to execute quality last-mile solutions. WRI India and Toyota Mobility Foundation’s working paper, an exhaustive analysis of surveys conducted in three Indian cities, provides valuable insights into metro travel patterns, highlights challenges in current last mile planning, and proposes commuter-responsive services for better integration.

The roundtable convened national-level decision-makers from various sectors in the transit ecosystem to explore how the paper’s insights can be integrated into metro last mile planning and fulfill the aims of the 2017 policy.
