Connect Karo 2023 | Water Sensitive Urban Management: Challenges and Practices
The current form of urbanization in India is disconnected from the natural environment and is associated with various negative water outcomes for cities, such as water scarcity, increased groundwater stress, and increasing incidence of urban flooding. This session will leverage the findings of WRI India’s 2023 working paper Urban Blue-Green Conundrum to showcase the relation between urbanization and loss of natural infrastructure. Drawing upon the findings of the publication, the moderators posed a series of probing questions to the roundtable of experts as they deliberated on pathways for water sensitive urban management to increase water resilience of existing cities.
