Connect Karo 2023 | Cities Perspective: Opportunities & Learnings to Scale Air Quality Solutions
The National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) launched in 2019 aims to reduce particulate matter by 20-30% by 2024. It focuses on city-specific air quality management plans for 131 non-attainment cities. However, cities are facing major challenges in achieving the targets and unable to scale-up impactful air quality projects. There is a need to enhance capacities in cities to be able to leverage best practices in air pollution mitigation approaches and learnings from challenges faced and means of overcoming them by the peers. There is need for platforms for cities to share learnings and form like-minded groups to collaborate towards realizing the mitigation objectives.
This session highlights successful practices and importance of sector-specific interventions undertaken by various cities and supported by WRI India towards achieving pollution reduction goals.
