The report describes the role cities are playing in India’s clean energy transition through case studies of 10 cities, covering 6 states. The report finds that city governments have primarily participated in energy transition through central government programs. It concludes that a collaborative approach to engaging cities that strengthens their capacity in different areas and considers the actors involved in achieving energy transition goals is needed.
