Connect Karo 2023 | Scaling-up Safer Streets: Lessons Learned and The Way Ahead
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Raahgiri Day, a movement aimed to create a different imagination for streets. It demonstrated that roads are not just mere conduits for vehicles, but spaces where people rest, rejuvenate, meet, play, pray and do business. Since its inception in 2013, Raahgiri has spread across more than 75 cities in India (albeit with different names, but a similar objective). As we celebrate a decade since Raahgiri’s inception, WRI India brought together stakeholders from over 10 cities who were involved in the open streets movement to identify learnings from the past 10 years. The session also focused on identifying challenges and solutions to achieve city-wide infrastructure changes and will feature a range of technical experts, government bodies, consultants, institutions, NGOs, and CSOs.
