Mr. S. B. Honnur

Mr. S.B. Honnur is the Addl. Director of Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA) and also holding the additional charge of the Director, Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) and Member Secretary, Karnataka State Town Planning Board, Government of Karnataka (GoK).

Mr. Honnur started his career as Assistant Transport Planner at Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in1981. Then he joined the DTCP, GoK in 1983 as Assistant Director and later served as commissioner of Urban Development Authorities of Karwar, Gadag-Betageri, also served as Joint Director of Dharwad and BMRDA and as Additional Director of BMRDA and Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Area Planning Authority (BMICAPA).

He initiated the preparation of Scientific Base Maps using high resolution satellite images, latest Geo spatial tools and techniques in Bangalore Metropolitan Region which were appreciated by many and later he introduced the same in other Urban Development Authorities of the state. He also has the credit of preparing the first master plan in India for an exclusive (Hampi) World Heritage site.

Mr. Honnur has done his masters in Applied Geography from Karnataka University, Dharwad (University Topper) and his second masters in Regional Planning from IIT, Kharagapur (1981).
